It’s time to let you have your say about recent topics like Howard Stern and Satellite Radio.

Satellite Radio

In reference to my article Satellite Radio: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly:

"Because of XM, I have discovered a passion for radio…I agree 110% about the RIAA and these ridiculous attempts to fleece these new services…The only thing I disagree with you slightly about are the promos for other XM shows, etc. Sometimes I kind of like to know what is going on elsewhere on the dial. I know it is a delicate balance, but like on HBO, Showtime, etc., I like to know what else they offer." – Russell

"I agree with you about the satellite programming. I received a Sirius system for Christmas and all the music sounds exactly like the playlists used by our Las Vegas FM stations. I'm disappointed and will give Sirius a few more months to get its act together before I disconnect. You're also correct about satellite radio seemingly not being concerned with competition from internet radio. Not only has the Ipod [sic] given portability to programming found on the internet, but when Sony (and probably other manufacturers) bring out the Wi-Fi internet radio receiver, in the next two years, [Internet] streams...will no longer force listeners to be chained to an indoor computer!" – Harvey

"If any station deserves satellite consideration it is woxy.com. I have XM and it does not come close." – RR

"I couldn't agree more with your comments about Satellite trying too hard to be like terrestrial radio. I'm amazed at the lack of originality in many of the rock stations (do we really need to hear that tired old Zeppelin song AGAIN?). I HATE hearing those stupid promos in between songs. Plus, even though I'm a DJ, I'd rather have NO DJs. They're not local, so I'm not missing out on anything relevant to my surroundings. And, I doubt there's really anything clever those guys have to say. On a positive note, I did hear the XM oldies station do a re-creation of an old Wolfman Jack radio show. THAT was cool." – Tony

"in regard to your comment about not wanting to hear what's on other XM channels when you're listening to one of your regular channels. i'm not sure whether or not i have a problem with XM alerting me to what's on other channels. i've been thinking about this from another angle. i don't think XM does enough to let me know what's on various channels, especially specialty music programming. yes, there's the weekly program guide; and maybe i haven't gone to the particular websites for each channel. but i seem to regularly miss a few special programs that i'd like to hear each week." – Tom

Howard Stern

Concerning the article Howard Stern's Stock Deal With SIRIUS Satellite Radio: A Gray Area of Payola?:

"I am a huge Howard fan and I listen everyday to every second. He never revealed anything of any detail about his contract to any listeners, in fact it took a fan to have him reveal he was not working Fridays. Howard is notoriously quiet about the millions he has." – Chris

"It's about time, someone, Les Moonves, is finally being a pain to Howard Stern. We've all heard enough of Howard's complaining about the FCC and how he will show everyone in the radio industry the 'Promised Land' of Satellite Radio. He boasted on his terrestrial show non-stop for over a year and got everyone to pump up his stock options and purchase Sirius equipment and subscriptions. Then comes January and it's old tired bits of the 'Pat O'Brien Tapes' uncut. Only that bit was all originally done 8 months prior by the 'Opie and Anthony Show' on XM Satellite…I am saddened for all the Sirius listeners who made Howard Stern ultra-rich by purchasing units and subscriptions. They get the same poor product as before, because all Howard will talk about is this lawsuit." - Timothy
